'Rooted' Stool

This wooden stool is still a work in progress. The idea behind this work was to create a piece of furniture that incorporated aspects of functionality, practicality, and beauty. Lohman's goal was to create a stool that, when sat on, makes the user feel like they are sitting on a tree stump or a very firm spot on the ground. He believes that "discomfort leads to a stronger connection with oneself." However flawed he may be, it remains true that this stool is not all that comfortable. He will be replacing his comfortable office chair with this stool in his home for everyday work at his desk and computer.

Red Cedar Lumbar, Dowel rod, and Wood glue.
